Details

Mainland China produces more than 90% of the raw materials for Chinese medicine, yet its traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) products have only a 10% global market share.  It doesn’t help that its prices are not competitive: for example, "female ginseng" Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui 當歸) produced in the Mainland sells for HK$200/kg, whereas that produced in Japan and South Korea sells for HK$1,800/kg.  The main reason is the lack of a complete set of quality standards that are recognized and accepted by the international community.  The speaker has done a sample trial in standardization of TCM using the Danggui Buxue Tang (當歸補血湯) formula.
